What I have learned over my life through education and experience is that no one is truly healthy unless they are willing to look at every aspect of their life: physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual. It is my desire to help others live a healthy whole life. Safe Place is created to integrate every part of your life into your healing so you will find the root cause of what is keeping you “stuck” and missing out on the fullness of life.
I have over 40 years of experience as a nurse in a variety of healthcare settings and a lifetime of caring for others. During that time I have cared for or been part of a team caring for many people of all ages in a variety of settings including pediatric nursing in a hospital, orthopedic, family, and internal medicine clinics, hospice home care, and camp nursing. What I have seen is that while taking a pill for your high blood pressure may lower your blood pressure if you still have anxiety or are stressing out over work deadlines day in and day out you are not truly healthy. Chances are good that your blood pressure will not stay “down” even with medication. More medication may not be the right answer.
Or if you have gotten wise counsel to “slow down” in your life to have less anxiety but you aren’t monitoring your blood sugars for your diabetes you may still feel sick. Maybe your anti-anxiety medicine really helps your panic attacks to be less frequent but why do they happen? What is the root of your anxiety? Do you really want to depend on a pill because you are worried about your teenager? And where is God in all of this? Sometimes our faith helps us and sometimes we secretly wonder why it is not helping us more.
I am not opposed to any one of the solutions given above. I am opposed to only dealing with one aspect of each life issue there. We were created with bodies that are totally connected physically, mentally, and spiritually. At Safe Place, we will address all of these aspects of your life no matter what brings you in. I will listen to you. You will receive support and get connected to people who can help.
I have spent my life caring for people and being cared for by people. I have used, interviewed, and networked with people of varying specialties in all areas of life for many years and it is time to share that network with you.
